3M overlaminate specifications and care

Choose 8518 gloss, 8519 luster or 8520 matte for the required finish. The bulletin identifies 8518 as optically clear; luster and matte are not equivalent optical finishes. Let the printed film fully dry or cure before laminating and follow the matched film, ink and lamination instructions.

Compatible print-film families

The following 3M film bulletins list 8518, 8519 and 8520 as graphic-protection options. Confirm the exact film suffix, ink system, application and exposure; a listed pairing is not a blanket warranty or approval for every construction.

This page offers 48.5, 54 and 60 in laminate widths for appropriately sized graphics. The linked film pages also include other widths, including a separate 36 in option on some pages; do not select a laminate by the family name alone. Check trimming needs and laminator capacity.
