3M Scotchcal Clear View Graphic Film IJ8150 is an optically clear, gloss cast vinyl that keeps unprinted areas transparent. The 2 mil film uses a clear pressure-sensitive adhesive and transparent synthetic liner. It supports solvent, UV and latex inkjet printing and UV screen printing with compatible systems. Use it on suitable glass, acrylic or polycarbonate surfaces that are flat, simply curved or mildly compound curved. Wet application is preferred; use dry application for vehicle windows. Choose a 54 in or 60 in × 50 yd roll. Test the finished construction at the intended site and follow current 3M printing, installation and warranty guidance.

Before a full print run, install and inspect a printed test panel at the intended site. Follow the IJ8150 bulletin’s ink-coverage and drying/curing requirements. Use the building-window guide’s wet-application instructions for IJ8150; vehicle-window installation uses the film’s dry method.
Do not use graphics with high-opacity areas or dark-colored ink on glass receiving significant sunlight: heat buildup can crack or break the glass. Assess the glass and its coatings, test polycarbonate for outgassing, and keep graphics clear of gaskets and silicone joints. Vehicle use is limited to permitted non-regulated windows; do not interfere with emergency exits.
For removal from glass, do not use heat sources or chemicals. Follow the linked glass-specific removal procedure. Removal from other substrates also depends on the film and substrate conditions; no universal ease or speed is promised.
Separately sold 8518 gloss protection
The IJ8150 bulletin lists 3M 8518 as graphic protection. For the corresponding media width, choose 8518 gloss, 54 in × 50 yd, SKU 7001-5415-000 or 8518 gloss, 60 in × 50 yd, SKU 7001-6015-000. These links select 8518; the 8519 and 8520 options on the same page are not the recommendations made here.
Review the 3M 8518 overlaminate bulletin (PDF, September 2026) with the IJ8150 requirements for the intended printer, ink and application. Fully dry or cure the print before lamination and allow for setup waste and required usable length. The laminate is not included with the film.
