3M 3630 Scotchcal is a 2 mil cast vinyl film with clear permanent adhesive and a synthetic liner, for compatible flat or thermoformed internally illuminated signs. For fluorescent or LED illuminated signs. Unpunched roll, 24 inches wide x 50 yards (150 feet). Black and Duranodic are effectively opaque for most sign uses. Choose the exact color code and item number. Screen colors are approximate; use a physical sample for color matching. Contact us about custom or special-order colors and time-sensitive orders.
3M 3630 resources and application guidance
Use the 3630-specific information in these manufacturer documents. Shared guides also cover other films; they do not make those products interchangeable.
- 3M Product Bulletin 3630/3730 (PDF, Revision N, January 2022): 3630 product guidance, with the 3630 color chart on page 4.
- 3M Application: Backlit Signage (PDF, Revision A, December 2024): wet application, substrate preparation, color matching and seams for compatible flat sign faces.
- 3M Production: Backlit Signage (PDF, Revision A, December 2024): sign-face construction and assembly; use the options that specify 3630.
- 3M Production: Thermoforming Signage (PDF, Revision A, December 2024): conditional fabrication guidance for compatible plastic sign faces, including preparation and safety precautions.
Match the selected roll size, color code and item number. Black 022 and Duranodic 069 are effectively opaque for most sign uses; the color chart is not a stock list.
Screen and printed colors are approximate. The bulletin's color references describe reflected-light appearance, not a guaranteed illuminated match. Check the complete film, substrate and lighting combination with a physical sample or test sign.
These references do not confirm current stock, special-order availability or warranty eligibility. For older stock, check the manufacture date and storage history against the product bulletin before use. Follow the product-specific instructions, including red-pigment precautions before thermoforming.
